Grande Prairie’s energy community raises more than $728,000 for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation and Grande Prairie Regional College

More than $2.4 million raised since 2013 at six 7G charity golf tournaments

CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Seven Generations Energy Ltd. (TSX: VII), together with business partners, suppliers, service companies, contractors and community members, raised $728,000 for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation and the Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) at the annual Seven Generations Energy Charity Golf Tournament last week. This year’s fundraising efforts brings the total amount raised to more than $2.4 million during the last six years.

“We are delighted by the generosity of our industry partners, suppliers, supporters and volunteers. They are enhancing the vital work of two foundational community institutions and generating positive community outcomes for many years to come. We are deeply grateful,” said Cindy Park, 7G’s Director, Community Engagement.

“This tournament illustrates how we serve our stakeholders, working with our partners to make a difference in the community. Our industry has faced a challenging economic downturn in the past few years, yet the energy community of the Peace Region continues to invest in health and education,” said Marty Proctor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Seven Generations.

The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation recently made its first substantial purchase with the funds raised from 7G’s Charity Golf Tournament – a bus equipped to transport the residents of Mackenzie Place Continuing Care Centre. The bus provides an opportunity for seniors to travel outside the walls of Mackenzie Place and engage in social and community activities that may now again be part of their daily lives.

“The annual Seven Generations Energy Charity Golf Tournament continues to be the most extraordinary tournament I have had the pleasure of partaking in,” said Keith Curtis, Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation. “Seven Generations and the energy industry are a major economic driving force in our community. The people of 7G strive to be open, honest and fair with everyone they come in contact with.  When you couple this extraordinary operational imperative with their philanthropic vision of better and stronger communities in which they do business, it’s easy to see why they have earned a great deal of respect.”

“Much like Seven Generations, GPRC believes in building our community in a way that will serve generations to come. This ongoing support from community leaders like Seven Generations has a direct and positive impact on the lives of our students by creating new learning opportunities that prepare them to go out into our communities and make lives better for the next generation,” said Don Gnatiuk, GPRC’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation
The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization entrusted with fundraising for the new $736-million Grande Prairie Regional Hospital that is currently under construction. The money raised by Seven Generations and the community will be utilized to purchase specialized equipment and to bring specialized services not normally available in a region of its size. In a city with a population of more than 68,000, and a community outreach of about 300,000, medical needs for patients continue to increase. The Foundation plays a critical role in funding specialized equipment, major projects, patient care programs and education that would not normally be accessible locally or within the region. For more information, please visit the Hospital Foundation's website at: http://supportyourhospital.ca.

Grande Prairie Regional College
GPRC’s unique partnership with Alberta Health Services within the new regional hospital on GPRC’s west campus land will expand health programming, including the development of state-of-the-art simulation and nursing labs. This partnership has the potential to create new opportunities for initiatives such as joint research, and to increase educational opportunities for all health care staff to better serve northwestern Alberta. New opportunities for GPRC students and faculty to participate in an international exchange are currently in development.
